One Word

'Widow' the quick one word that someone who's spouse/partner has died can say to immediately have people understand their situation.

There is no one word for a parent who has lost a child, or a child who has lost a sibling.

When people are making small talk with me and ask about kids. I can't say 1- it isn't true. Saying 2- starts a whole thing.

and no-

I can't say 'two' and leave it at that. Because a lot of times people ask about ages or genders, and if I act like Spencer is a living breathing little boy. Well...he isn't.

So where is my word. So I can say, 'two but one made me a XXX' or something. Also, not a God person so the 'one is in heaven...' or 'an angel' is not my jam.

Saying, 'two but one passed away' feels so flippant, so uncaring. Like he's off at summer camp or something.

So, where is my word? and while you are at it, where is the word for Kenzie to use as she grows up? When people ask if she has siblings? If eventually she has other siblings. I don't want her count to leave her brother out, but I don't want her to have to go into the 'he died' thing.

Stupid and small- but still. A word.
